News from Professor Mark Macklin

Mark has recently had a paper published in the highly prestigious journal Water Resources Research: Reducing uncertainty with flood frequency analysis: the contribution of palaeo- and historical flood information. Together with his Australian colleagues, he examined rivers in subtropical Australia to reconstruct past flood events and this enables us to place current flooding into its historical context.  You can read the abstract of Mark’s paper and order a copy here at Researchgate

Congratulations are also due to Mark for being awarded a £500,000 research grant from NERC to investigate the impacts of flooding and changed river flows on malaria hazard in Africa.
